Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

$200,000 vnd is a great tip. No ways I tip $300,000 for a $350k service.
100,000d is more than enough
Excessive
Had same in Hanoi
Tips is optional, but 50k to 100k is what I would do, as a Vietnamese. They know outside currency is high, that’s why 300k seems not much for foreigners but high for them
I’m Vietnamese and I worked at a Spa before. A total price of 650k is normal. Some places charge 650k including tip. The place u went seemed to have clearly divided this price directly with the staff
A tip of 300,000 VND is very cheap in other countries. And those girls live off tips to support their whole families. That’s normal for customers when they come for a massage 😊
$350,000 VND is roughly $13 USD, which would cost much more in the US or western countries, hence giving an equal amount of Tip for an hour massage is a great thing to do since the masseur get very, very little pay.
It’s disgusting, the tipping menu, what the hellly. We said thank you gave a thumbs up and left.
No tip needed you yanks I tell ya stop it.
