Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great.

Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

350VND only $14 ,in Viet nam the workers not have a salary, tips considered their salary, they asked for 300vnd I think it’s normal in the Vietnam. because you are a different culture you don’t understand how they work in there, with Vietnamese people they always tips well 💯 % or more when they go back there… this message. I don’t mean nothing just want to explain how is work that work with Al the services in Vietnam.

Don’t have to tip but I always do for good service and also considering it would cost 4 or 5 times more in the states

Sounds like the owners took their cut and the workers got little or nothing. To avoid this tip the workers directly during the session (a smaller amount) and not at check out.

Wait, were you guys happy and the end , or in other words, was it a “Happy ending” kind of massage ? If so, this is the only service that tips = tickets is expected

350k per person for the massage and 300k tip for one staff? That sounds quite unreasonable. I think it’s probably because it’s Tet and you look generous. But since it’s the holiday, I won’t comment further. On normal days, I would tip 300k for two people, or 200k for one person if I go alone.

But whether tip of 3 lacs is a dollar or VND as you used both sign. If it is VND then it is just 12 $. However it is almost 100 % of service which is high.
