Welcome to the Vietadvisor Community!

A space for travelers, by travelers.

At Vietadvisor, we believe that the best travel advice comes from people who have been there. Our community is a vibrant hub where travelers from around the world can share their experiences, ask questions, and help each other plan unforgettable trips to Vietnam.

To ensure our community remains a safe, helpful, and inspiring place for everyone, we’ve established a set of community standards and guidelines. By participating, you agree to follow these rules.

Our Core Community Principles

Our community thrives on these three core principles:

  1. Be Helpful: Share your knowledge, offer genuine advice, and answer questions thoughtfully. We’re all here to help fellow travelers.

  2. Be Respectful: Treat others with kindness and respect. We have zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks.

  3. Be Authentic: Share your real experiences and insights. We value genuine, original content that comes from your own travels.

Community Guidelines & Content Standards

This section outlines the specific do’s and don’ts for creating and interacting with content on our platform.

1. Content Quality and Purpose

  • Do share detailed and valuable content:

    • Originality is key: All content—posts, photos, and replies—must be your own. Do not copy and paste from other websites or sources.

    • Be specific: Instead of “Hanoi is great,” tell us why. Share a specific story, a hidden gem you found, or a detailed review of a restaurant.

    • Answer questions thoroughly: When you reply to a post, aim to provide comprehensive and helpful information. A simple “yes” or “no” is often not enough.

  • Don’t post thin or low-quality content:

    • Avoid one-line questions: Posts like “Where to go in Vietnam?” are too broad. Instead, ask something specific, like “What are some lesser-known places to visit in Northern Vietnam?”

    • No spam or self-promotion: Do not post links to your personal blog, YouTube channel, or social media for the sole purpose of promotion. We will remove such content. Links should only be included if they directly and substantially add value to the conversation (e.g., linking to an official tourist board website).

2. Respect and Personal Conduct

  • Do be kind and constructive:

    • Treat every member with respect, regardless of their background or travel style.

    • Engage in healthy debates without resorting to personal attacks. If you disagree with someone, do it respectfully.

    • If you see something that violates our rules, use the “Report” button. Don’t engage in a public argument with the user.

  • Don’t post harassing or offensive content:

    • No hate speech: We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, hate speech, or content that promotes violence or prejudice against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.

    • No personal attacks: Do not insult, threaten, or bully other members. This includes name-calling and aggressive language.

    • No private information: Do not share your personal contact information or that of others (phone numbers, email addresses, etc.) in public posts.

3. Honesty and Accuracy

  • Do be truthful:

    • Your reviews, recommendations, and stories should be based on your actual experiences or your knowledges.

    • Clearly label any content that is sponsored or that you have a personal or business connection to. Transparency is crucial.

  • Don’t post misleading or fake content:

    • Do not create fake accounts or post fake reviews. Our moderation team has tools to detect and remove this kind of activity.

    • Do not spread misinformation, especially regarding safety, health, or official regulations.

Our Content Moderation and Indexing Policy

To maintain a high-quality platform, we actively moderate all content.

Initial Review & Moderation

All new posts and comments are subject to an initial review by our moderation team.

  • Content that is immediately removed:

    • Spam, scams, and commercial promotions.

    • Hate speech, harassment, or personal attacks.

    • Content that is illegal or promotes illegal activities.

  • Content that may be edited or flagged:

    • Posts that are too general and require more detail.

    • Replies that are not helpful.

    • Incorrect information that needs to be corrected.

The Indexing Process (How Your Post Gets Found on Google)

  • Default status: noindex: To prevent low-quality content from harming our site’s visibility, all new posts are initially set to noindex. This means they are visible to our community but will not be searchable on Google.

  • Content becomes index: Our team regularly reviews new posts and selects high-quality, detailed, and truly helpful content to be indexed. A post is considered for indexing if it:

    • Answers a specific question with thorough details.

    • Shares a unique, first-hand experience (e.g., a travel story, a detailed itinerary).

    • Provides original photos and valuable tips.

    • Is well-written and easy to read.

  • Email notification: If your post is selected to be indexed, you will receive an email notifying you of this exciting news! This is our way of saying thank you for your valuable contribution.

How to Get Your Post Indexed

Want your post to be seen by thousands of travelers on Google? Follow these tips:

  • Be a storyteller: Instead of just listing facts, share your personal journey. For example, “A First-Timer’s Guide to Ha Giang Loop” is more compelling than “Ha Giang Loop Itinerary.”

  • Use photos: A picture is worth a thousand words. High-quality, original photos make your post stand out and are a key factor in our selection process.

  • Be specific: Answer the “who, what, when, where, and why.” The more details you provide, the higher the chances of your post being indexed.

  • Engage with others: When you reply to questions and comments on your post, you make it more dynamic and valuable, which increases its likelihood of being selected.

Reporting Violations

If you encounter content that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it immediately.

  • Use the “Report” button on the post or comment.

  • Provide a brief, clear explanation of why you are reporting it.

Our moderation team will review all reports and take appropriate action.
