Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

That tip is $ 13.00 I’m sure you could spare at least $ 10.00 These workers depend on tips.
20% Tipping is good enough. If a business suggests how much to tip, just ignore them. They are trying to scam you.
It’s called ‘bait and switch’ !!! Besides, $300k VND is only $11.50 USD. Still a bargain IMO.
Never got required for tip in Vietnam. I tip whatever i want. i am Vietnamese American btw. Tipping is always optional in Vietnam.
No its not normal. At least 100.000VND for the tip compared to the service full payment for each of you would be great. But not 100% tip like that 🤞

Tipping is not a standard practice but Vietnamese love money. Any way they can find a way to profit they will do it.
For tip is what ever you want to , not you had to and must be 300.000 for each , you may be miss understand or something wrong with that store, and abnormal of what they are treat customer like that , I hate some one demanding of what I had to do , no way .

I’m guessing that you have gone to Khoe Spa. I’ve seen a few other places in HCMC where they charge 350K VND for 90-minute massage with minimum tip is 300K VND. I believe they have a sign at the front desk indicating the fees and the host should have explained that to you as well. For me, $25 USD or 650K VND is well worth the money spent for 90-minute massage.
