Walking into moving traffic is ok 👍
Be flexible. What you think you might want to do may change as you discover new things to do while actually in the region.
Go to the toilet BEFORE you get on the sleep bus
In Vietnam use grab app to get around. Pack light as you can buy what u need when u get to Vietnam especially clothes. Best to bring a back pack then a suitcase to get around especially if u want to travel outside the main tourist areas. I live in Hanoi and its my favorite city in Vietnam. HCMC is great as well but there is an old school charm to Hanoi. Its easy to travel around the country as there are tourist agencies everywhere. In January, February even March it can get cold in Hanoi. Da Nang and Hoi An are great areas as well. Check out the ancient city of Hoi An. Yeah unlock your phone get a sim card when you arrive. In the tourist areas a lot of people speak English now not like in years past so that will make it easier to get around as well. South East Asia is very safe just be aware but most people are friendly and the street people just might want to clean your shoes or sell u merch but they are still very honest and friendly. In general Vietnam can be overwhelming especially Hanoi when it comes to the traffic. The great part are the bridges over main roads that make it safer to cross. Look for them when walking especially on the highways. Hai Giang is amazing in the North and they have great tours set up. Rìding on a motorbike is an experience and the landscape is amazing up there as well. Ha Long Bay is amazing as well that is just outside of Hanoi. Ning Binh is a place worth seeing only an hour from Hanoi. Think if u can a month that is a good amount of time to travel and see the country. If planned right you can see and experience a lot in a short period of time.
Horrid traffic in HCMC and Hanoi; wear a mask for pollution!
Be sure Visa, Passport, and Plane Tickets have exactly the same name including middle name
Download grab app ride app
Arrival at ho chi minh airport and difficulty through customs and very poor signage for transit location and also international terminals
Salted coffee was not very nice at all. Must try egg coffee. Not everywhere have them only certain place. Don’t go on private grab, ignore them when they offer you a ride because they will ripped you off at the end of the trip and make you pay 10 x the cost of the trip. Always used an apps to book yr grab rides that way you know the price and they can’t ripped you off.
If you go to northern of Vietnam now this time please prepare jackes or warmer clothes because it is cold and a lot of activity outside with no heat.
