Book accommodation at tour destinations. We did full day tours almost every day and spent up to 3 hours travelling back to the city each time. That’s 6 hours a day on a bus. All tours were well worth it but I’m sure staying out would have given us some time relaxing and exploring smaller towns.
That 4 full days in Hanoi is too much, just walking around and around is getting too much. Getting to be a sensory overload and I’m not into shopping. Should have stayed in Tam Coc or Lan Ha Bay for longer. Not looking forward to Ho Chi Min for the same reason, sensory overload. But the peace and beauty of other areas has been appreciated

To take less luggage! 😎Not because it was difficult to bring them around, BUT BECAUSE we bought so much and wanted more!! So we bought there extra 2 luggages 🙂
We did a 4 day motorbike tour, wish we had of checked to see if they had comfortable seats first…….
Don’t pack Buy everything there
To bring gifts from home for hosts at homestays etc
Take a brightly coloured hair tie or similar to put on the sink tap to always remind you NOT to drink the water or use it for brushing teeth. Treat it as though it is battery acid and this will help. I had been taking tour groups to Vietnam from NZ for 6 years and every one said it was a great reminder. Its easy to get complacent after a few days and before you know it you forget and then opps!!!
Load up your debit/credit cards on your phone as a back up to the physical cards. Keep the physical cards (except one for emergencies) in a locked safe while out and about and just use your phone for transactions. Most countries call it Apple Pay even if you don’t have an Apple phone.
Immigration….do something and thanks
