Hotel warning – our experience. Hoi An: AIRA Boutique HotelJust wanted to share our experience in case it helps other travelers. We stayed at a beachfront hotel (paid about $136/night) and were quite disappointed. The location is good, but it’s not very quiet – there’s a restaurant next door with drunk guests and barking dogs, and a karaoke beach bar in front. The biggest issue was the hotel maintenance and service. The pool area is very run down: muddy/sandy deck, dirty and broken chairs, and pool houses with deteriorated palm roofs where blue plastic is visible underneath. Every morning we had to ask staff to clean the chairs, which should really be done before guests arrive.Service was also disappointing. When we raised our concerns, the hotel first offered to pay the transfer to our next hotel, but after learning we were going to Hue they changed it to only paying half ($29). Considering the price we paid per night, this felt quite unreasonable. Our attic room was spacious but dark, no beach view (blocked by buildings), and we initially had no hot water until asking them to turn it on.I’ve traveled a lot across Asia and honestly this was below the standard of most hotels in this price range. The room cleaning staff were kind, but overall we felt our concerns were not taken seriously by management.Just something to keep in mind if you’re looking for accommodation in the area.Best,

Thank you for the information.
Just looked on Trip Advisor and it has an extraordinarily good rating. Not only that but of the few reviews I read by non native English speakers, the prose was better than most professional advertisements or ChatGPT. I’ve seen this for restaurants also. Alarm bells ring loud when I see that…
Yikes I’m paying 17$ a night, rooftop pool, everything is exquisite!!
We paid $55 Canadian at the Nha Trang beachfront hotel. It is like a four-star hotel with free breakfast. TTC hospitality just crossed the road to the beach.
Way too high for that dump.
I just got back from Hanoi and area last week. Went to Ho Chi Minh City and area in 2023. Stayed in different hotels every couple of days. Never paid more than $15 a night, and never had anything to complain about.
The most I paid in Vietnam for a hotel was 45usd for a “5*” in Da Nang, and it was sh$t. Best advice for Vietnam is to stay in locally owned small places that are new, they will cost around 20usd and will be great and managed with a heart. Stay away from old resorts or 5* hotels from the 80′, 136/night is criminal.
I am currently in the Chic Hoi Ann and it has to be one of the nicest original hotels in have staid in. It’s spotlessly clean, beautifully presented.
unbelievable – we were also robbed in Vietnam – in Phu Quoc the hotel owner didn’t want to believe us at first – but the cleaning lady was exposed by cameras and the hotel owner refunded us the money – I travel worldwide and have never had any problems before
Allegro hotel in Hoi An was beautiful, luxurious beds, pool area, breakfast, staff all fantastic and a few mins stroll to the centre, the spa in hotel was amazing
