I am a bigger person and had no comment about my size from anyone and even got clothes made in HoiAn and got no judgement at all.
Haha, of you’re thin-skinned you’re going to be offended when you’re told you’re big. And trust me, you will be told. As everyone else has mentioned, it will be said with no malicious intent but it will be said. Often. The Vietnamese are honest and blunt and it’s adorable and brutal at the same time.
I’ve had comments on my two trips. First ever many years ago was “you fat.”
To be honest I have a bit of a tummy and on a number of occasions people in shops have touched my tummy and said ” for good luck”
Its just one of the consequences what you did to your body. Just accept and deal with it.
they would comment something if you are Vietnamese, but not to the foreigners, or if they say that in Vietnamese then you wont understand 😅 I get that all the times especially from my relatives, they keep asking how much I weight and say we are too fat (although we are just a little chubby for asian standard).
They love it in Bali, they think you’re rich 😆 because you can afford to eat, so you have a full life so to speak.
I’m yet to visit Vietnam (5 more weeks!) but in other parts of Asia, I won’t even look in a clothing store, especially at markets. The women are all ‘nothing for you here’ and it’s awful
