Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

We had massages in Da Nang and HCM and we were never asked for tips. You should be very selective with the spa. Read google reviews. My wife’s Korean and she chose those highly recommended by Korean travellers. I mentioned this because almost all spa have Korean signs. There’s one in Da Nang that’s even owned by a Korean. You can’t just walk to any store or spa and expect the same experience. Just like in any other city.
Suggested I wouldn’t worry about it . Tip according how good the service was

You paid $18 CAD for the massage. Adding $15 for a tip makes the massage $33 total. I would just do it. Massages are around $100 here in Canada. They should of not demanded a tip though.
Not normal…my cousin has a massage place and my husband went n got a massage the workers didn’t know he was family n demanded a tip and wouldn’t let him leave the room. Afterwards he told me what happened I told my cousin and my aunt n let’s say she no longer works for them. Definitely unacceptable to be demanding a tip when tips are optional.
