Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great.

Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

300k for tipping each of you??? It too much, price for massage is 350k and the tip is 300. They are crazy ? They want to take money from you.

I am full Vietnamese and lives in Canada. I went HCM city district 1 and had massage/nail service too. I paid over 500k vnd and was asked for large amount of tips too. I refused to and gave 10%. I recommend give 10-15% max if good service. It’s optional and I don’t like to be asked aggressive like that!

Price is a price, no tip required, tell them where to go demanding a tip… you ask- you don’t get

In VN, most places don’t require tips except massage places. Masseurs don’t have a salary. They rely on tips. Adding tips to the cost of a massage X2. Don’t agree, don’t go.

It’s normal in Vietnam. If they said tips included, then no need to tips.

Not normal. I tip 50 K max 100 K for a massage depending on the quality and setting upscale or not. And if people ask for a tip, it is a big turn-off.

We tip between 100K-200K, and that is 30-50%, should be plenty already!

It’s the holiday Tet …I paid extra for everything and tip even at places I normally don’t…because most services are closed.
