Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Just want to know what to expect and how to react.Thanks.Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Been asked my weight 3 times dress shopping.

Depends where you go and what the interactions are like. I only had a comment made once to me and I was at a tailor shop.
Vietnamese people like to be blunt and joke around. If you can’t take the tease, then you may get offended when you travel in Vietnam.
In many asian countries you are asked your age, private details (married/divorced/widowed), how tall, weight, income etc..
Be prepared! They’ll judge your body so naturally, as if you’ve been close for a long time. Please don’t feel negative, laugh it out and tell them you love foods, that’s why you want to travel the world. 😂
You might hear “con heo” but don’t ask for the translation.
Extremely common. Be prepare to be insult about every flaws you every have. Goodluck.
When we went I was big, they told me they have elephant size clothes. They weren’t rude just their way of saying big clothes 😐
Eat less, mate.
