Hello,I had incident that occurred at Tan Son Nhat Airport while I was departing Vietnam. After checking in my luggage, I proceeded to the security checkpoint. While standing in line, I was called to a control room where baggage is scanned. There were no illegal or prohibited items in my luggage. However, the employee asked me for money in order for my luggage to pass through. I found this request unusual and initially declined. She then insisted and suggested that I give 500,000 VND as a tip.In an effort to resolve the situation and continue with my departure, I opened my wallet intending to give a smaller amount (100,000 VND). While I was searching for smaller bills, the employee reached into my wallet and took 500,000 VND without my consent.I would like to know if this is standard practice, as it appeared inappropriate and concerning.

Been there a few times that has never happened, what it did is that they scanned my luggage and made surrender the emptied bullet shells not allowed to take overseas
Shocking I would have snatched it back and reported her
Report them right away
They do this often with Vietnamese people. Asking for tip coffee money. You either pay up with smaller amount if you have something that not allowed or don’t pay and make a scene. It doesn’t usually happen to non Vietnamese foreigners.
Yeah it’s not common practice but it’s also not that rare. Never carry more cash than you need each day and never open your wallet in those situations.
Write to the airport with time and description of person.
This happened to me in Bali
We passed through Ho Chi Minh airport 2 days ago and saw the screen at immigration with names asking those people to go to screening as their luggage was being screened. Lots of what looked Vietnamese names on but also western names.
