Hello,I had incident that occurred at Tan Son Nhat Airport while I was departing Vietnam. After checking in my luggage, I proceeded to the security checkpoint. While standing in line, I was called to a control room where baggage is scanned. There were no illegal or prohibited items in my luggage. However, the employee asked me for money in order for my luggage to pass through. I found this request unusual and initially declined. She then insisted and suggested that I give 500,000 VND as a tip.In an effort to resolve the situation and continue with my departure, I opened my wallet intending to give a smaller amount (100,000 VND). While I was searching for smaller bills, the employee reached into my wallet and took 500,000 VND without my consent.I would like to know if this is standard practice, as it appeared inappropriate and concerning.

Be careful on flights as well. My sister got her money stolen during the flight from Tokyo to Vietnam. I did a little research and a lot of people have had their money stolen while they were sleeping. I’m not sure they use drugs on us but my sister and I have never felt so sleepy during flights before. It was giving us headaches. The lady that sat next to her was very suspicious. They took 4k from her. Be sure to keep your money tight
Police should be told
Bali airport it’s really bad – the guy stamping my visa wanted a multi-pound note with the late queens photo on it. – he thought it would be worth it – I said No
Vietnam is corrupted from government. No honor. No face. No shame.
This happen to me almost 20 years ago, they didnt let me go because I bought some cd. So I played the game gave them a soby story that I had to stay in so over night and got nothing left and told them all I had left was 100k.
No, you just got ripped off!
Once upon a time…..seemed a fairly regular thing for returning Vietnamese (and Cambodians going into Cambodia) to be expected to give “tips” to airport staff on arrival or departure.
