Hello,I had incident that occurred at Tan Son Nhat Airport while I was departing Vietnam. After checking in my luggage, I proceeded to the security checkpoint. While standing in line, I was called to a control room where baggage is scanned. There were no illegal or prohibited items in my luggage. However, the employee asked me for money in order for my luggage to pass through. I found this request unusual and initially declined. She then insisted and suggested that I give 500,000 VND as a tip.In an effort to resolve the situation and continue with my departure, I opened my wallet intending to give a smaller amount (100,000 VND). While I was searching for smaller bills, the employee reached into my wallet and took 500,000 VND without my consent.I would like to know if this is standard practice, as it appeared inappropriate and concerning.

Then you really will get a fine 🙂
It’s not normal.

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon in Vietnam.
Porky pies
I have only heard of this particular type of scam happening to Vietnamese that live abroad. My husband had a coworker who is born and raised in Vietnam but now lives in the US and one person asked her for $10 usd as a “tip” when she went back last year. I believe this was at the check in counter. I believe that this happened to her more than once during that trip.
Please report her. This unacceptable!!
Its not!
