( I never complain and I am aware I am in Asia and don’t have high expectations what so ever and by that I mean that I know I’m not in my home country so the culture and the behaviour of locals will differ and this is my 3rd sleeper bus this week and the others have been completely fine) I just wanted to say to avoid this company when booking your sleeper bus ( tuan Trinh) I got picked up earlier today ( they were late but that’s not an issue ) it has been raining really bad and when I gave them my backpack to put onto the bus the driver pushed me out of the way and I nearly fell and again I didn’t say anything. I then got onto the bus and asked where my seat was and the driver just pointed straight I then just chose a random bed and he started shouting at me and said “ no “ without telling me where to actually go. The drivers here also beep a lot however this driver was constantly beeping every second and if you’re right at the front you will not get ANY sleep. We then stopped for a toilet break and after 3 minutes the driver starts shouting at everyone to come back bear in mind some ladies might take longer in the toilet etc. and lastly, there are children on this bus and the driver is driving and smoking cigarettes. I’m only about 4 hours into my journey and still have about 8 more left. Just wanted to warn everyone as it’s definitely made me feel out of place and I feel like I have to tip toe around them as I’m worried they will shout at me again lol.

Kamila Rosey your expectation is completely fine and understandable. I never experience what you experience when taking overnight bus with bed. The seat number is quite easy to find on the bus and would not need instruction from bus assistant. Language barrier contributes to the issue. Usually bus assistant is more patient with foreigner, but not in your case. Best to use Phuong Trang bus company. And from Hoi An to Ha Noi, better to take train if you want to save money, safer and more comfortable. If you must take bus/coach, install vexere app to check review of small companies and find better one.

As a vietnamese, sleeper bus or any type of bus is my leasttt option when traveling and commuting. There are so many much more professional companies but most of them are shtty: shtty drivers, shtty service, shtty passengers 🤧

I used HK from Hanoi to Sapa and they were really good. Clean bus, stopped 3 times for breaks (10-15min). Only issue was on my return journey back to Hanoi, they hadn’t organised my onward travel to my hotel, which was eventually sorted out and they paid for a taxi but as we arrived late into Hanoi with two kids was a bit annoying but, wasn’t the end of the world.

id like to point out that the journey is rather long, and most Vietnamese would end up considering trains or planes for convenience. these bus rides offer great city to city within 500km rides, more than that and im either giving up money or time for convenience myself, as long distant buses have long been a nightmare even for locals on longer trips and during holiday periods.

As a Vietnamese living in the US I’m sorry you had to go through that and in all honesty most overnight us are like this since drivers are basically up driving over night and smoking is common in Vietnam the honking incessantly is normal cause there’s a lot of smaller cars and motorcycles especially on smaller roads, I know they have a highway built but even then drivers are getting used to the new road (I learned it from an acquaintance who does taxi service)and it’s narrow as heck I don’t blame you if they scream and yell cause Asian especially Vietnamese are always quick to go while tourist might just don’t understand so it’s reasonable it leaves a bad impression it’s why I recommend you make friends with locals or have a local guides or go with a tour guides as some service isn’t foreigners friendly since there’s a considerable language barrier they only know simple words not enough where they understand or have a full conversation which is why solo traveling is hard in Vietnamese without a guide or a local

Kamila Rosey sorry girl to hear about your bad experience. As a vietnamese who’s been living overseas and only comes back every now and then to travel, I do have to say the sleeper bus is always a hit or miss. I’d always take other transportation if possible. Most of the sleeper bus drivers drive like a maniac because the companies are backed by corrupted cops, hence why the constant beeping, they think that they own the roads.

Nah next time skip these buses. I’m Vietnamese and I don’t even take the bus lol. Take the train or just fly next time. It’s not that expensive and definitely save the hassle

This is the vietnamese style, suck it up and adapt, but at the same time navigate it so you are safe and protected the best you can. The bus is always an experience in Nam, I prefer planes or motobiking if nearby to my city. All the best on the trip 💯👌
