Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Just want to know what to expect and how to react.Thanks.Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Expect a few comments i had few, they were never hurtful more funny. One was trousers more expensive you need much material they were pre made trousers. I wouldn’t be offended by the comments they are not meant to hurt. I found them funny x
Not at all
Do you speak Vietnamese?
In VN, saying “you gain weight” used to be a compliment bc it is the sign that you have eat well and have good health. Honestly, my relative still do that to me whenever they see me lol. But they will care and feed me hella food 😂
I don’t think it’s going to be a problem, Vietnamese are friendly and nice
don’t learn vietnamese your be non the wiser. Very polite people.
My husband has a fine belly and when dealing with the females when buying things they loved to touch him.. rub his belly and make comments… but it’s all done in fun and not ment as an insult in any way!
also be prepared for them to come up rub your belly, a smile, laugh, and wanna take pictures with you. Someone will laugh someone will say things. Also be prepared that the plastic chairs are not designed for heavyweight Americans. My husband knows this personally. And when they crack and break, they’ll smile and hand you another one.
Oh my guy. The Vietnamese are very honest. If you are of larger size they will have you know it in the kindest way possible
Vietnamese people don’t have filter
