Hey my wife and I just had a massage in HCMC and they were great. They charged $350,000VND!! No problem. Then before we paid they wanted us to rate the massage with a strongly suggested $300,000VND tip for each of us. Is this normal? We don’t mind tipping but that seems excessive. Can anyone explain? TIA

I was in a massage place and was going to leave a tip anyway but then they start saying xxx tip for her and xx for me. The lady taking the payment wanted a tip.
Ours refused tip. It was odd. Rare to see those anymore

When I had a luxury massage in hotel, the rate was around 850k/1m so I tipped 300k/400k, for a casual massage at 350k, I usually gave 200k.

We had similar experience, we went to a message place near Ben vuien st, couple and got the leg massage, which is not good and even I mentioned multiple times can you please put bit of pressure with massage she haven’t changed her style. At the end, they demanded 600k on top of each massage as mandatory tip and when we said we don’t like massage and you haven’t changed after saying, she got rude and haven’t accepted us to leave until tip is paid, this place is little bit inside a complex, and being overseas we paid extra 1million dong and left the place. Lesson learned, if we get a massage at Vietnam, always will choose a professional and a place on higher price point
