Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Just want to know what to expect and how to react.Thanks.Honest question: my wife and I are overweight and not thick-skinned. Are comments or jokes about body weight common in Vietnam? Currently in Vietnam I’m a size 14-16 BMI healthy not overweight but I need XL not good for my ego. Western are taller and wider even when healthy. It’s not personal let it be just different
The problem you are going to have is that everybody sits on little plastic chairs.
Def don’t visit Sri Lanka then 🤣 I wasn’t even overweight and I had shop owners singing fat songs to me
Not “thick skinned” are you sure? 😂
Not at all. It’s kind of hard to find a larger size, but they’re around….I am a 12-14US. I need a 3x here. Or a size 7 in one outfit….?
If you are embarrassed of your body you should fix it. Not make it our problem to baby you
Noone has said anything rude to me. Im a 12-14
Dont worry. They might say Oh she/he is so Fat/ chubby/ Big…, it means a WOW, admired, looks wealthy and healthy also happy.
That is common in Vietnam, and dont think too much, nice people.
Well, I am thick skinned and have never had comments about my weight yet there were two incidents while in Vietnam recently. One was the life jacket was too small to clip up so the boat man was laughing about having a baby and the other was in a clothes shop, just looking around and a guy shook his head and pointed and indicated that nothing would fit. Honestly, I laugh about it but they are really small people and we must be huge to them.
