I am 72. Last year I visited V for the 1st time. I decided to fly to Da Nang Airport from Singapore. I bought my airtickets online and booked 5 nights in a hotel in Hoi An + 5 nights in Da Nang, using Booking.com. After 10 nights I traveled to Hanoi for 8 days and 2 nights at Ha Long. Exursions were booked on GetYourGuide (their service is absolutely fabulous). This year I am going to V again: 7 nights in Sa Pa, 3 in Ninh Binh and 4 in Hanoi. And if you need an eVisa – get it online before arrival from the government websit. 🫠
If you can get around ok you will be absolutely fine
Vietnam is great but i find Thailand is a bit more user friendly especially for first timers in asia and they dont want you pay everything with US$
