We are late 60s going again in 3 weeks
I am very excited for you and your wife. I live in the USA and traveled to Vietnam every year. I can honestly say that I’ve never had anything other than a totally enjoyable trip, and I have never faced any unplanned emergencies or challenges.
Don’t search on social media is my advice
Advice on what?, I am 70 years of age. I’ve been to Vietnam with my late wife 28 years ago and I’m now here on my own been here for 14 months, love it, just picked the time of year because it can get pretty warm around June July August and wet around October November December.
Passport, Plane Tickets, and Visa all need the exact same name.
Use Booking.com, not a travel agent. It will save you a bundle of money
Start with a good question.

We are well into our 70s and no problems at all in Vietnam. A bit different in Cambodia, if you want to see all the sites like Angkor Wat etc. there are quite lengthy walks in scorching heat.
Please go!
