Just received our Wise Card – got it on the recommendation of a traveller friend.

Just received our Wise Card – got it on the recommendation of a traveller friend. Was told to test it in Australia before going to Vietnam. Made a purchase at Woollies using tap & go – all good. Went to a couple of ATM’S to try a withdrawal – one wanted a $7.50 transaction fee – the other one a $15.00 fee. Does anyone have experience in using Wise O/Seas? Maybe the fees were because we were using it in Australia?Wondering if this is the level of fees on Vietnam ATM’S? Thanks

Im an Australian. I have a wise card that I used in japan. I just used my regular debit card in vietnam. The extra fees were so miniscule as everything was so cheap

If you’re in Australia cards like ING and UBank are better value no atm fees, no limit on number of withdrawals and same exchange rates. Wise is designed for the USA market I believe.

It cost us about $20 NZD in ATM fees per transaction in Vietnam. The airport in Hanoi was the only machine without additional charges
