Is it safe to leave passport in hotel safe ?

Is it safe to leave passport in hotel safe ?I’ve purchased a travel safe and padlocks for my suitcase. Is it safe to leave passports in hotel safe ? Or is passport in my personal travel safe and then in hotel safe ? Or could I leave in luggage in my travel safe with padlock on suitcase? I’ve heard so much conflicting information and also about bags being snatched so not wanting to take them with me every where and out on tours to water etc.

Its questionable. You gotta worry about pocket picking or loosing your bag that has the passport.

Never had a problem leaving my passport with the hotel in 6 trips to Vietnam. It used to be the law that the hotel had to hold your passport and police would occasionally come into a hotel and ask to see the passports of the guests. That was a few years ago now. I don’t think the law has changed , just the enforcement of it. Being a communist country , the government can be a bit paranoid about foreigners 😁

Keep in safe or in luggage bag. Don’t carry if not needed outside.

If you are uneasy about the room safes, or if your hotel doesn’t provide such safes, can usually leave it with the front desk staff. Over many years of travel, I’ve never had safety problems with room safes myself

For 17 years have left my passport in the room safe and never had an issue.
