Is it safe to leave passport in hotel safe ?

Is it safe to leave passport in hotel safe ?I’ve purchased a travel safe and padlocks for my suitcase. Is it safe to leave passports in hotel safe ? Or is passport in my personal travel safe and then in hotel safe ? Or could I leave in luggage in my travel safe with padlock on suitcase? I’ve heard so much conflicting information and also about bags being snatched so not wanting to take them with me every where and out on tours to water etc.

I always keep my passport and cards at the hotel,as I know myself…I can lose it very quickly when I go out 🙈 I always hope for the staff honesty! Few months ago I lost my wallet with all my cards and money in HCMC. Thank to God one seller saw it and returned it to me when I was looking around…for me more safe-at the hotel

Keep it in the safe. Print a copy and/or take a picture of it for car rentals and such. It worked in Thailand, Bali and Viet Nam.

Last time I travel & stay at 5 star hotels, they keep my passport until I check out. It was their policy & safe.

Last 32 years going to S.E. Asia is never carry my passport around with me! It’s your life line. So I have multiple passport photo copies I carry!

In a zillion nights in hotels I’ve never had my hotel safe touched so I would much prefer it there and carry digital copy in your phone. I always have a xerox copy in my backpack too. Personally I don’t want to carry my passport .

It’s better to carry your passport with you, no matter which country you are travelling in, not just in Vietnam

I would carry it with you. In the event of disaster/ accident, notification for next of kin can be a great benefit to them, and could mean life or death to you. Not to sound morbid, but unfortunate things do happen.

I have always left my passport in my hotel room safe and NEVER had any troubles in years of international travel. If there is no safe, I lock it in my suitcase.
