Hi everyone, I will be travelling to Vietnam for the first time later this year.

Hi everyone, I will be travelling to Vietnam for the first time later this year.I grew up hearing stories about corrupt airport officials asking for bribe money when you enter/leave the country.I was told that they will make up random excuses to make you wait – sometimes the entire day. I heard it mostly has to do with fake “Visa issues”… “longer baggage checks”… “confiscated packages at Customs”… (especially expensive items). Is all of that still happening in 2026?

Nope. , nothing like that . I traveled and lived in Sài Gòn Vietnam, for over a year now. I never experienced these none senses. Sài Gòn T3 is improved with digital face check in. LONG THÀNH newest airport will be much better than Tân Sơn Nhất. You need to stop thinking about negatively about your own country , your motherland. If you have a positively mindset, then your experience will be much more enjoyable. Remember That. 👍

Happened to me with my visa in January 2025. Their statement was “your American husband wouldn’t want his wife wait in a hotel somewhere waiting up to three weeks new visa approval. You probably have $200 on you to pay for our agency to take care of your visa in 30 minutes.”

I was charged £80 at the airport overstaying 1 day I don’t know if that’s the normal procedure.
