Hi everyone, I will be travelling to Vietnam for the first time later this year.I grew up hearing stories about corrupt airport officials asking for bribe money when you enter/leave the country.I was told that they will make up random excuses to make you wait – sometimes the entire day. I heard it mostly has to do with fake “Visa issues”… “longer baggage checks”… “confiscated packages at Customs”… (especially expensive items). Is all of that still happening in 2026?

i was just there December time and I did not have no problem. Dont get taxi from the airport, down load the grab app, they accept currency and you will be fine.
Get yr visa with correct dates .. before you travel .. EmilyVisa was good.. or you can go thru Viet gov visa.. but confusing

We just returned from amazing trip to Vietnam. I can give you one bit of advice… business class.
I think it happens more often to Asian tourists (they think they understand the way of life). However, if you are from the West ( Europe, USA) it is less likely, unless your visa has some issues, which they can get something out of it.
