Looking for tips for a great hotel in Hanoi. I've been told that many on Booking.com are not like their ads, and having been scammed by 2 hotels in Egypt I'm a bit nervous. Hoping for genuine recommendations. I'd like to be near to old quarter, happy to walk up to about a mile. Just want it to be a lovely place to stay with things to do and quiet...

Can I ask a realistic question. I see a lot of PRIVATE drivers in the comments. For those that took them over going on a group tour was it because of the size of your group or you truly preferred to just have the driver to yourself and not be around other tourist. I'm coming solo so I'm not sure how cost effective it would be for me to do...

Help. My partner wants to travel to Vietnam but I am undecided if I want to go. I’m too old to rough it so would like to have a similar experience to travelling to Bali (luxury without the Bali belly). Can anyone suggest where might be nice to go? I’m also thinking maybe Singapore or Japan as an alternative. Thank you in advance

Currently in Hanoi. Shortly after landing my throat started burning and I now have an annoying cough and runny nose. Day 2 we went out to Halong overnight and it improved slightly. Trying to work out if I have a virus or if it's the horrible pollution. Had no issues rest of Vietnam (we're doing South to north). I should probably just go to a pharmacist and ask?
