Help. My partner wants to travel to Vietnam but I am undecided if I want to go. I’m too old to rough it so would like to have a similar experience to travelling to Bali (luxury without the Bali belly). Can anyone suggest where might be nice to go? I’m also thinking maybe Singapore or Japan as an alternative. Thank you in advance

I love Bali but Vietnam is even better when I went last year! I didn’t get sick once 🙂
Hello Da nang is a beautiful place so is Hoi An, definitely not roughing it! I’m not sure your age but if your not very mobile/steady on your feet the only thing Is it’s very rare at hotels and pool areas to have hand rails on stairs I noticed this when considering bringing my older parents to this beautiful country that it wouldn’t be suitable for them for that reason unfortunately!
Vietnam can be very luxurious, no roughing it at all 🙂
There are very nice hotels in Vietnam, no need to rough it . You can stay in 5 star hotels for around $100 USD.
You should never have to compromise just because your parter wishes to go to a place that you’re not interested in. He/she should consider a solo trip to Vietnam instead. Or go with his/her friends (if there’s any)
Rough it? Think you watched one too many Vietnam war movies.
You’ll love Vietnam. Tours and experiences for all ages and experience. Great tour companies. Honest and great value.
you can still have Luxury, just depends which part of vietnam you go.
I’m traveling through VN right now. Many beautiful sights and affordable luxury hotels. I recommend staying in Hue (quite slower pace) and doing day or overnight trips to nearby cities. Specifically overnight cruise to Ha Long bay was amazing. Japan is really crowded and expensive.
If budget isn’t really an issue, I’d honestly recommend Japan. I just got back from a trip there, and it’s truly an amazing country. The fall scenery was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and the service was incredibly refined and well-organized. That said, if you compare the same hotel category, prices in Japan are usually about three to four times higher than in Vietnam.
