Suitcase or backpack?Hi I’m planning to travel south east Asia – Vietnam, Malaysia (maybe Thailand) and China, for about 3-4 months. Everyone I see takes a backpack, but the idea of carrying that around doesn’t please me. Would I be okay with a suitcase instead? Did anyone have a bad experience with a suitcase?

Depends on which towns/cities. Some have decent sidewalks & roads….but some are a challenge with a suitcase. How you travel can make a difference
Backpack
I just returned from Asia last week.
Love this bag! I often use vacuum seal bags when I travel with more winter gear too
Im in Asia now, did Thailand and now Vietnam.. if you plan to take grab a loy and moving around alot then maybe backpacking is better. Other then that we have a stroller for our kids and yes its not easy everywhere but very doable. If you dont like backback then you can do suitcase but I do think the wheels are a must! 🙂 enjoy!! Oh and btw I think the streets are not sooo bad to wheel around.. better then my past experiences in South America personally.
We bought one of these and have used it in Sri Lanka and Vietnam, moving frequently.
We use cabin baggage size carry on bags plus a small backpack and have had no problems
I go to Southeast Asia every year and i’m totally into bringing a rolling suitcase. If you have some remote jungle places to go to , you could leave the suitcase back at your city hub and travel light with a backpack for that portion. There’s plenty of concrete in SE Asia.
Pack light as possible, small as possible, carry on and backpack
If you wear a backpack please be aware not to hit people around you with it!!!
