Suitcase or backpack? Hi I’m planning to travel south east Asia – Vietnam, Malaysia (maybe Thailand) and China, for about 3-4 months.

Suitcase or backpack?Hi I’m planning to travel south east Asia – Vietnam, Malaysia (maybe Thailand) and China, for about 3-4 months. Everyone I see takes a backpack, but the idea of carrying that around doesn’t please me. Would I be okay with a suitcase instead? Did anyone have a bad experience with a suitcase?

I’m here for 6 weeks. I have a small backpack and a small suitcase.

We took a wheeled suitcase and a large bag (holdall no wheels) for our 3 wk holiday. Ended up buying another suitcase to replace the hold-all as it was just too heavy and cumbersome. Suitcase is easy as you use grabs and don’t need to wheel it to far

My back can’t handle a backpack anymore… I always take a roller suitcase and have not had any problems at all!

I fly, drop my suitcase at the hotel and carry on with my day. I’ve done both countries and the only time it was annoying, it was in old towns like fenghuang but even that was like a 5 min walk (and the hotel owners helped me so it wasn’t that bad)
