I’m planning a couple of days in HCM next week (tues-thurs).

I’m planning a couple of days in HCM next week (tues-thurs). Feeling a bit apprehensive as i hate big busy cities! I want to visit the war remnants museam & do some shopping (i fly home on thurs eve). Are there any other MUST do/see things in HCM? What do you recommend? I prefer to walk places so hoping to keep it simple & compact. Also any recommendations for cheap hotels near the war museam would be welcome. Also if theres anyone in HCM next week who wants to meet up (solo older women like me maybe) then that would be lovely!

Do a night dinner river cruise. Book street side tourist company. Same for war stuff. Book the night you fly in

Au lac de legend hotel is awesome, very central, we walked everywhere from there. The museum is just down the road !

The post office and the tower is good for the view.

‘SILA Urban Living’ is absolutely the best place to stay AND it’s just round the corner from the War Remnants Museum.

Go on the hop on hop off bus. The start is at the old railway station. You can buy a ticket to stay on (about 1 hour round trip) or the hop on hop off ticket. The bus visits all the main tourist sites. Great for orientation or for ease of getting around.

Walking in HCM city is death defying. I don’t recommend it.

We were a family of 5 many years ago. We arranged a driver/tour guide through our hotel and requested a visit to one of the Fito Museums (i.e. Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine) be included in one of our days out and about … we all still remember it so vividly as one of the absolute highlights of our visit.

I booked this hotel as I arrive tomorrow by bus from Phnom Penh, it was $65 and includes breakfast,
