I’m going to Vietnam for 3 weeks should I buy this T-Mobile international plan for $50 or is it cheaper to get a ESIM at the airport when I arrive over there?

We have T-Mobile. We were in Vietnam for 2.5 weeks. We used T-Mobile free 5GB to WhatsApp and text each other. I will admit that the texting was spotty. Sometimes my family didn’t get my texts for hours.

Get an esim plan before you go. I just got back. Tmobile works over there, but it’s better to have the esim.

I always get the T-mobile international plan because I’m afraid I might have issues with e-sim. But it definitely seems to be cheaper.

ESIM at the airport really expensive and weird, buy it at mobile shop outside. And ask for wifi when you go any places. Normally there are free wifi at restaurant, hotel, coffee shop… Ask them for the wifi password

$50 for 30 days is cheap. However, you can get ESIM or physical SIM card at any local VietTel store. My cousin got me one for < 200,000 VND (~$6 USD). You free Wi-Fi at the airport and use it to get GRAB transportation service.

Get a e-SIM for 1-2 days and then get a sim card here, I use Viettel and I spend 160k per month

It depends on how you feel, I prefer having data access as soon as I land. Also, if you are planning on traveling to more than 1 countries in Asia then I find the T-Mobile plan works awesome and fast. For me, peace of mind is better than trying to figure out what is the best while I’m traveling and for me, I already paid 2000 to go to Vietnam, another 50 so I can figure out hotels and directions is worth it, have fun

Some local providers are Viettel, Vinaphone, Mobiphone, you can come to them with your passport and it will take less than 30 minutes to get a new SIM card. You can use the Vietnamese phone number to download apps like Grab for bike and car rides, Grabfood or Shoppee food for food delivery also. Really cheap and convenient
