Hi, we’re going Vietnam in March 🤩 Has anyone done the Ha Giang Loop solo (without a tour)? Me and my partner are thinking of just hiring a bike and doing it ourselves over 3 days. Would love to know any tips/ good stop offs / accommodation recommendations 🥰

I check for the address in Hanoi and send you a picture
I did the tour by Car and it is perfect and totally easy. Hotels were booked during the trip day by day and all went as expected, except from the unfortunate weather being quite foggy at times. However, a amizing trip and scenaries you cannot even omagin from ads.
Loved it.
You need a license (more than 50cc) for driving scooter as police will randomly stop and check your driving license.
Yes twice best advice if you do not have a correct license do the tour. My Son & I got fined last year $400 each, the year before I used the IDA approved by the UN no problem. Even showed the corrupt policeman the video from 2024. But still worth it. I’ll be getting a Cambodian license soon. FYI after the fine we were stopped everyday over 5 days. If you can afford the fine do it.
The best we did 👏👏
I did it with a group, which was actually fun. You can do it alone, if you are a good driver. But being in a group gives the extra benefit of getting help, if there is a problem with the bike (and the streets can be quite demanding), one can have a chat with other group members, one doesnt need to care for booking hotels and food (the food was always delicious on the group tour).
My husband and friend did the 4 day 3 night tour with jasmine tours. They rode the bike themselves. It was a brilliant well run trip with them and met brilliant people and the tour guides were amazing. Can send u the link if you like. You need the international licence from here too.
