Hi everyone At first I thought the tailor thing in Hoi An was overrated and that I definitely don’t need more clothes… but after *so* many friends who visited kept recommending it, I’m starting to reconsider.

Hi everyone 😊At first I thought the tailor thing in Hoi An was overrated and that I definitely don’t need more clothes… but after *so* many friends who visited kept recommending it, I’m starting to reconsider.Anyone here actually did it and can share their experience? How does the process work? How long does it take? And is it really something you shouldn’t miss?Would also love specific tailor recommendations 🙏

It was a little higher price than I expected. But you can negotiate.

We used the custom tailor in Hoi An above the silkworm place that our guide took us to learn how silk is made – we arrived at 3:30 p.m. & chose our fabrics to have 1 raw silk sleeveless dress made for me, and a short sleeve button-up collarless shirt in a patterned silk for my husband. They measured us right away (probably took 20 measurements on each of us) & we paid for it up front with the understanding that they could have it ready by 7 p.m. that night, before we had to go back to Da Nang where our hotel was. We were flying to HCM the next morning so they couldn’t have it delivered to our hotel as they suggested. They agreed, & they had it ready right on time! They called our tour guide and he took us to a nearby tailor shop where we tried on our clothing. It was not as inexpensive as I had hoped for, but they did a very good job.

I got a leather jacket, leather bag, sandals, and boots made by Bespoke Hoan Leather. Highly recommend! Took about 2 days.

I was there 15 years ago. Chose one shop in town and another one inside the market. With limited English we somehow understood each other, they measured me and made me perfect clothes (I had ordered jumpsuits of different design, 2 in each shop). Light and amazing fabric. I wore that almost all the time, 2 for work, 2 leasure, I still have them, although now it is more fashionable to have wide leg pants so I don’t wear them any more.

I went to BeBe tailor. One of the biggest in Hoi An. They have an excellent reputation and have their own machinists in house so the quality is better. I had a double mastectomy 12 years ago with no reconstruction and I have NEVER had a jacket which fits me properly….until now. Three fittings and it looks beautiful and the fit is excellent. I’m so pleased. It was £200 for a jacket and trousers.

My shop is located at 29 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hoi An. We make a suit for $180. The time required depends on your preference. The stitching is meticulous.

I found the tailors overpriced and not worth spending 4 days of my holiday going in and out for fittings. The tailors recommended by the hotels are twice the price of the others. Bit only get basic stuff made. They were not able to recreate my design which I took over (actual piece not photo)
