Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency. We have ordered and received Wise cards but see there are withdrawal limits for bank machines. We would rather not get US cash out here to exchange there but will if needed. We can not get VND from our Royal Bank here in Canada and worry our RBC bank card won’t work there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can you exchange at VBCE?
Don’t worry , you can change $ Canadian dollars to Viet Nam Dong at any bank or jewelry store at Viet nam also you can pay by credit card ( visa- Mc- Amex). Enjoy your trip!!
Continental currency exchange if they sell Vietnamese. Get a ton of the smallest bills they have. I also used an ATM in Vietnam but the bills are large so you will have problems with some places not wanting to take them.
Hotels give really good rates, check with them…I git a Wise card..wasn’t so wise! I didn’t see any place that took it…now back in Canada not sure where here i can use it..lol.
We recently went and our bank cards worked fine at most of the ATMS . The rate was about $17500 VND to CAD and my bank charged me $5 . I never thought I would be taking out 5 mil out of an ATM lol
Why cant you get at RBC? Can they not order it? At td it just takes 3-5 business days.
I’m from Canada and have an RBC card that worked just fine at all the ATMs. You generally can only take out 3 to 5 million VND at a time depending on the machine.
We used WISE in thailand last month – worked perfectly for us !!
Just bring brand new crisp $100 CAD and exchange here. On your arrival, just exchange couple hundreds at the airport enough for transportation/ first day spend and exchange more in the city center for better rate.
Just buy VND in your Wise and pay all bigger bills with it, hotel, restaurants, tours etc, put Wise on Grab too. Cash is then minimal.
