Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency.

Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency. We have ordered and received Wise cards but see there are withdrawal limits for bank machines. We would rather not get US cash out here to exchange there but will if needed. We can not get VND from our Royal Bank here in Canada and worry our RBC bank card won’t work there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Curency exchange I got good deal in local shop. You can order some VND from bank but they might want a guarantee and could take up to week or so to get it

Just bring your Canadian money. No need to change into america. Many places in the bigger towns take Canadian. Vp banks allow up to 10 million per transaction

You can get VND from a money exchange place in Canada. I find their rates are oftentimes better than the banks.

We just got back from 2.5 months in Vietnam and used only our Wise card. Never an issue.

I would not buy VND in Canada and don’t buy US cash then buy VND. Bring cash as others have said. You can use your Wise. The “limit” to which you are referring I believe is $350 a month with no fees. Anything over that and there is a fee. So there is no cap on the amount you can withdraw. I have heard this will be reduced to $100 come May.

RBC card works here. Wise works here. VP bank deals out 10M VND per transaction, MB deals out 5.

We were there recently and arrived with Vietnamese Dong exchanged in 🇨🇦 at currency exchange. You will likely use cash right away so bring some Dong. We also took a bundle of $100 🇨🇦 bills and exchanged twice on our 4 week travels. NOTE: bring crisp $100 bills they must note have any folds, teats, writing or marks do keep they straight, they do check thoroughly. We used all our cash and loved the experience only used cc for internal flight & hotel bookings plus a few GRAB rides and some meals etc. we love Vietnam and will go back for sure 👍 go with the flow and enjoy the adventure 🙏

I got the money from CIBC in advance and had no problem using my debit or credit card at an ATM. It’s ok for most hotels to use credit card but always have some local cash. They have visitors from all over the world. Why would you get US cash?

I am here now. I exchanged some funds back home before leaving. This was a bad idea – I got a really bad rate. I think they exchanged my CAD funds to US funds and then to VND.
