Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency.

Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency. We have ordered and received Wise cards but see there are withdrawal limits for bank machines. We would rather not get US cash out here to exchange there but will if needed. We can not get VND from our Royal Bank here in Canada and worry our RBC bank card won’t work there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

TD Bank in Canada has Vietnam Dong money you just order with them ahead of time and they notify you when to pick it up.

Hey, just so you know, try using credit cards that don’t have foreign exchange fees. You can swap your Canadian dollars for Vietnamese dong once you’re in Vietnam. Also, bring $100 bills, not smaller ones, because some places give you less value for smaller bills when you exchange them.

I am also Cdn arriving next week. Easy CIBC online order of Dong arrived in 3 bus days. Also using Wise card at ATMs there as needed. Easy transfer online of my Cdn to Dong once there before withdrawal. Cr card for major purchases.

There are ATMS on your way out of the airport. That’s what we did. We are from Canada and also had a wise card and our RBC visa

I dont know where in Canada you are, im from Ontario. I got about $300 CAD changed to VND at the currency converter at my local mall. I bank with Simplii and my debit works here just fine at the machines. VP bank has no fees for forign cards so you just pay whatever your bank charges for forign ATMs. Some places charge 3-5% for using credit card, some dont.

We have rbc and have had no trouble withdrawing. Suggest using BIDV atms for best rate. Most vendors say only cash but when we ate present med with the bill we sometimes have not had e ought and then they accept visa. Also ran into ppl from Canada that ha e had no trouble using WISE

I’m from BC. I just came back from Vietnam. I went to the money exchange here and then we got more while there. Just call your bank to confirm your cc will work there. We had no problem. The admin fee to exchange at atm is very little.
