Family of 4 coming from Canada and wondering what travellers from Canada do for currency. We have ordered and received Wise cards but see there are withdrawal limits for bank machines. We would rather not get US cash out here to exchange there but will if needed. We can not get VND from our Royal Bank here in Canada and worry our RBC bank card won’t work there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

We are Canadian we go to Vietnam every year we don’t worry too much about the money do not get any from home they will rip you off on the exchange once you hit the airport exchange some at the airport if you need to or what we do is take it from the ATM no problems
if there’s currency exchange store, you can get it from
My family spent 3 months in Vietnam and we’re Canadian. We got some VND through CIBC here just to have a bit of cash and then used our bank cards (RBC) throughout Vietnam to withdraw cash. We only had an issue twice where the money didn’t actually come out of the ATM but was withdrawn from our account so we just called the bank and got the money back eventually. Yes the withdrawal limits are quite low.
We also got VND from a reputable money exchange store in our city before we left. We did the same when we went to Japan. Just search money exchange in your city.
We are going to Vietnam with some Canadian dollars. We plan on using ATM there. To exchange in Vietnam, apparently the gold shops give the best rate. Don’t change to VND in Canada
We got $200 CDn into VND before leaving. Then used ATM machines to get cash. Easy and they are everywhere You will learn which allow you to withdraw more than others
Just use your cad debit and pull out dong if you bring canadian cash, most places won’t accept it because they want american! So we mostly just used our debit cards and pulled out cash!
Wise card: you have to make a small purchase in Canada and insert the card and use your pin to activate the card before you go overseas .
Canadian here, Was there for 3 weeks just use your bank card there , its cheaper. DON’T get American to then exchange that. Just use your back card and will be fine! Machines everywhere
