Are hotel rooms in Hanoi safe to leave valuables in when away exploring the city? Deposit box, locked luggage are enough? Sorry first time traveling to Vietnam, any good tips appreciated

Lmao
I wouldn’t.
Just lock anything valuable in your big suitcase.
Vietnam is NO different to anywhere else in the world, use your common sense and do NOT leave valuable items where they may tempt others to steal them, if there is no safety deposit box take your credit cards, passport, cash, mobile phone etc with you when you leave the room.
I travel with my mini blink motion detector camera. It all depends if you have access to WiFi/internet. A soft or lightweight mini safe if necessary and wrap it around the foot of the bed or dresser hidden.
No problem. The only things that go missing are a few socks when your laundry gets done
Safer than whatever country you came from
I never had a problem have stayed in atleast 50 different hotels
So, better to use locks on luggage and backpack then? Is it safer than the safe box in the room? Thanks for all helpful replies
And if you lost your valuable items in safe box or lost your valueable items in your room, it always first time happened in hotel, so there is no problem with hotel staff, your are the problem.
