Are hotel rooms in Hanoi safe to leave valuables in when away exploring the city? Deposit box, locked luggage are enough? Sorry first time traveling to Vietnam, any good tips appreciated

Ive just left all my personal belongings for 4 days in a hostel, all fine, very trustworthy in Vietnam… just be wary of foreign travellers…
I have a number of tiny keyed padlocks that go on the zippers of my luggage, put valuables away locked and you don’t have problems.
Safes in hotels worldwide are never 100% safe. Quite a few staff can open a room safe in a hotel, a hostel, b&bs etc. The room safe provides a basic level of security. You can ask if the hotel has safety deposit boxes. Or, in your room, it could be more secure to use a hardshell case.
Safes in hotel rooms
We’ve traveled all over Vietnam for years and never had anything taken in our hotel room. We don’t use a safety deposit box either
What items? Passports always with me, money in pocket and phone too. Just clothes in room!
They have safe box for customers to use
Totally safe in Vietnam now haven’t used safe people just don’t leave stuff on show
I’ve personally wondered the same. How safe are the safes etc in hotels? We are travelling in April and I’m not sure if we should be taking all our credit cards, cash, passports etc with us on a daily basis or just lock them away in the room safe and take a stat Dec copy of the passports etc.
I thought I’d get one of those small portable lock boxes for my room.
