I was never worried. Carried nothing in my pockets or had jewelry. Had a personal pack on my chest for what I needed to shop. But I felt pretty safe anywhere I went in Vietnam

No bother while I was there, but maybe just have your wits about you in heavily touristy spots such as the Dragon Bridge show if you go… It’d likely be a tourist having a go than a local.

I’ve been to Vietnam four times, twice in Da Nang and Hoi An, and I’ve never experienced anything like that. Still, it’s always best to stay cautious with your belongings. Wearing a crossbody bag can help keep your things secure.

Son’s phone was pickpocketed in an elevator. Hotel security staff were involved.
