We are staying in a hotel over Tet (4* if that makes any difference) and we’re wanting to gift a small token of our appreciation to the staff we deal with who are working that day. Would $100,000 vnd each be acceptable or is that insulting? We are staying in a hotel over Tet (4* if that makes any difference) and we’re wanting to gift a small token of our appreciation to the staff we deal with who are working that day. 100k is rather small 200-500 is reasonable
It would be meaningful to have that cash placed in the red envelope. Nice, clean and newer bills would be great.
That is GENEROUS! They will surely appreciate it!
Any amount of cash is a token of good luck !
Our rule of thumb is if service is good we’d give 10%, if great 15% of food bill but always given directly to staff in cash. For housekeeping we left 200K daily but that’s for 2-2 suite. Bell hop 25-50K per luggage brought to/from room to car.
It’s too bad that you don’t have any $2 bills in American money. They really love those and feel they’re good luck.
If you put it into perspective 100,000 Vietnamese dong is about $6 Australian so make your decisions based on that,, for me I would probably tip them 500,000 but that’s just me,,
The amount isnt an issue..
That s a day of their day wages so I think they will be very happy
I will also be in HCMC 2/19 – my first time – where do I get the red envelopes? And is it easy to get change from larger bills i may get from the ATM?
