Ice is ok, just not tap water, clean your teeth with tap water, fresh fruit & salads are ok, I get a laugh, but a bit annoyed when I see comments from people who have been here once & think they are an authority , I’ve lived here for a few years, still meaning
You don’t want to swallow anything that contains ground water. Whether it is ice or whatever else… Brushing your teeth is fine, but try not to swallow the water. The ingredients in toothpaste will destroy most of the bacteria, but its better not to swallow. This is true with most countries around the world that do not have sanitary public water for drinking. Boiling the water can also be a bad idea. It will kill the bacteria, but the water could have a high concentration of mineral that is not good for those who are not use to that water source.
No, Dá (ice) is good.
Been here 15 years, so from experience from myself and family and friends who have visited me I recommend having ice in larger establishments, like Cong coffee, Highlands, Nguyen coffee, KFC McDonald’s jolly bee , lottee, so on these places i never had an issue, the areas maybe best not to have ice is beer places, lettuce or salads on the street, and or ice drinks from corner shops (coffee) you can go to any place where drinks are cold like 7 11 style stores and recommend you have water and or revive which is for dehydration. Seen so many Tay (Western) get sick more from dehydration, even us Australians. The weather is very different here, also the new style coffee shops with a lot of people seem to be okay also. Make sure U bring something like charcoal tablets just in case.
Personally, I don’t ever have iced drinks now. I did in the past and never had a problem but having had the question raised with me (after not thinking of it myself) I have decided to err on the side of caution.
