We chose the “home stay” version wanting to experience some of the local life. The ride from Hanoi was close to 6 hrs in a bus (pic #1). Well I had no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️😆. They made 2 stops (breakfast & lunch). Make sure to bring cash b/c you will need 3K dong to use the bathroom. It was suppose to be a 4 hr hike to the home stay but after a 30 min walk I called a taxi which got us there 3 hrs ahead of schedule. 🥳Our friendly guide gave us a tour of her village & home. You just don’t know how good you have it until you see how others live!

If travelling to sapa early morning would you recommend sleeper bus or limo bus?

Sapa is beautiful. We went round in a jeep. Amazing views.

Good info. The highlands is still rugged. There is electricity throughout VN now however, water and plumbing is still a commodity for the northern border areas. There are plenty of resorts for those who needs a certain level of comfort. Fall is harvest of the fields but also rain season. Winter (brown) is planting time.

Pay a few dollars extra and do the luxury sleeper buses. They were fantastic. Toilets on board as well. Massage seating and tvs built in. Just get the bottom in the middle of the bus to ensure you have a more comfy ride. Bluetooth headphones etc

Not sure what you expected? We loved the whole experience in May 2025. Such an experience and the service stations were 100% cleaner than any U.K. motorway services.
