I’m sorry if this gets asked all the time .

I’m sorry if this gets asked all the time . I’m doing my first solo trip to Vietnam for 3 weeks . I’m from the UK, I’ve managed to save a good wadv of cash (all hotels paid for and some trips) . How do I go about exchanging it ? Am I better off putting it on some kind of card ? Take money out of their ATM . I understand they like cash. I need step by step advice please as I’m a bit slow and have no clue. Also Where’s best to get to a sim please 🫣😁Many thanks

Take Monzo and Revolut and leave it in there

I changed £100 into dong in uk before i left. I dont like landing without local currency if poss. I took £200 cash & a travel money card & used my nationwide debit card. All these were useful. I think its good to have a variety of money options. Its a super easy & very safe country. Have a blast!

Hey! If you ever have some free time, you should totally check out Halo Retreat. It’s this cute little getaway in Thung Nai, Hoa Binh, just about 80km from Hanoi. It’s right by Hoa Binh Lake—which people call the ‘Ha Long Bay of the mountains’—and the views of the water and mountains are super peaceful. It’s a short trip, but it’s perfectly enough to unwind, get some fresh air, and just soak up nature. Definitely worth checking out!

We took some money we exchanged at Tesco’s or M and S then used ATMs. ATMs here will charge a small fee or use VP bank atms as they are free withdrawals. Depending on where you go you can also use card to pay. Definitely use grab to message for a taxi and always use their app – download before you go and add a payment card – you are told how much before you accept the car. Just be aware often you will be approached by someone saying they are grab – ding believe then always use their app. You never need to wait long. I use an eSIM that I bought online – Ubigi it was £9.90 for 30 days 10GB and did us fine. Enjoy as Vietnam is great, we have been here 5 weeks this year got stuck because of the Iran war – worse places to be stuck.

Vietnam still a cash base country so you should bring it follow your vacation. In addition, ATMs are widely operate in Vietnam so you can withdraw money any time. Especially, getting a SIM can be done at the airport when you land 💪😁

Use the “bank” ATM’s and you’ll be fine. If you bring pounds there are plenty of foreign currency exchanges.

It is convenient, but you get a better deal , better rates at an internet provider in town
