If I was going to go back to Vietnam, I would skip HCMC all together if I only had 7 days, fly into Hanoi, much more to see and do, do a day trip to ninh binh , ha long bay and spend the rest of the time in Hanoi….

Gosh, it’s doable but it’s more like a tick and flick list than a holiday. Most of the time you’ll be travelling. We are doing Vietnam (3 weeks in total) and this will be our second time. We left Cambodia for another time as I feel 5 days (that’s how many the other trip had) wouldn’t have done it justice.

It’s just a week. I’d barely leave my own country for a one week holiday.

7 days. I would pick one country… but if you really want to do both,.. I would do 3 nights in Ho Chi Minh (skip mui ne) and 3 nights in siem reap (flying between)

Cambodia from HCMC would just be “somewhere” in the south. For me Cambodia fell into 4 main areas (Siem Reap for Angkor Wat & temples, Phnom Penh for Khmer Rouge related historical sites, Kampot for the river & Koh Rong for the islands). If you are only doing a day it has to be Siem Reap which has to be a flight from HCMC only PP would be possible by bus & then you’d need a full day to visit the Khmer Rouge sites. I’ve also visited Mui Ne (as a stop over on way to Da Lat) and I wouldn’t do it as a day trip! Better to spend a day doing Chu Chi Tunnels and and another on a good Mekong Delta tour (ours wasn’t great so research this). The Reunification Palace was also interesting

Are you kidding ? You have 2 days in Vietnam. Why are you bothering to even go when there is so much to see?

Looks like you are just wasting your time. I guess it’s better to book for domestic flights if you really want to go to Cambodia.
