I’m sorry if this gets asked all the time . I’m doing my first solo trip to Vietnam for 3 weeks . I’m from the UK, I’ve managed to save a good wadv of cash (all hotels paid for and some trips) . How do I go about exchanging it ? Am I better off putting it on some kind of card ? Take money out of their ATM . I understand they like cash. I need step by step advice please as I’m a bit slow and have no clue. Also Where’s best to get to a sim please 🫣😁Many thanks

Hey I literally just got back today from my first trip there.
Get one of them post office cards and transfer money on to that..use online banking to top it up easy
Plenty of places to exchange cash bro!
I got a Schwab checking for the 0 foreign transaction fees. I’ve simply been taking out Daily Cash. I’m 10 days in my solo trip so far and every ATM has worked fine.
step in Vietnam get sim card and then ATMs for everwhere! Cheers! Emma Jane
Emma. Do NOT exchange your money in the UK for VND.
Im solo traveler also and found that the revolut card is a good bet..Some places in the busy parts of Vietnam like the cities take card payment’s…So that helps..Also when drawing cash from atm some will ask if you want dollas or dong…I chose dollar as easier to work out…And also be mindfull that some e sims can be very expensive compared to england..If you would like anymore information just message me and will try and answer your questions…enjoy your break
Cash is king in vietnam… we changed money in UK and it lasted OK… 2 course Dinner for two, outside of hotels is about £20 total, in hotel it’s about £50 total.a bottle of water is about 30pence… hope you have a great time!
I draw out of my uk bank at atms when I need it and always pay with cash
Get SIM card at airport after you go through passport control use grab for a taxi from airport make sure to check the drivers number plate with message you receive from grab money from UK the notes need to be basically brand new no rips writing on them £50 £20 notes Vietnam is a cheap country if you go places to eat don’t see the price on menu better to walk on some will rip you off check reviews of places you want to visit again some places will try rip you off read the reviews for previous experiences of others traffic is on opposite direction keep looking both ways when crossing road it’s mad but fun Vietnam is a excellent country just like any country there can be thieves pick pockets scammers most of all have fun great country looking forward to going back for my 5th time
