We are staying in a hotel over Tet (4* if that makes any difference) and we’re wanting to gift a small token of our appreciation to the staff we deal with who are working that day. Would $100,000 vnd each be acceptable or is that insulting? We are staying in a hotel over Tet (4* if that makes any difference) and we’re wanting to gift a small token of our appreciation to the staff we deal with who are working that day. 100 K VND is surely acceptable, give with your heart and use a red envelope thats common in VN . Envelops you can buy easy everywhere for a few VND. If you’re lucky to be invited for a TET dinner to join, you give a bit more.
It’s your money so give as you feel led. Tip or no tip it’s totally up to each person
I reckon 100,000 in a red envelope would be completely appropriate.
Your idea is perfect.
I found that amount is fine personally I’d give a little gift as well. Anything that’s small the Vietnamese love little gifts.
Sounds about right to me.
100 k is typical when someone does something nice for u and goes out of their way
I would give 200k each. it’s the red color note, so its a lucky color.. But 100k is not terrible.
Some people are not reading the actual post. You are giving a tip to each of the staff you interact with at the hotel. You are putting it in a red envelope to give during Tét. It’s not about the monetary amount, it’s about giving from the heart. I feel 100K is a nice gesture with the number of staff you will be doing it for. Some visitors probably don’t even do things like this. If you feel good about it, don’t worry about what others say.
For those who are bashing on the monetary amount, you’re wrong and missing the whole point of this holiday. It’s lunar new year. 🧧 any amount is acceptable. The money is for good luck and the pure thoughts of giving is more than enough.
