An Island Hopping Tour to the South: We booked a full-day tour for around 700,000 VND per person, which included hotel pickup, lunch, and snorkeling gear. The highlight was snorkeling at Hon Gam Ghi, where the coral was surprisingly decent. It was a good way to see multiple islands like Hon Mong Tay and Hon May Rut without any hassle.
The Hon Thom Cable Car Ride: This was a real surprise. The round-trip ticket cost about 400,000 VND per person, but the 20-minute ride over the sea to Hon Thom Island offers insane, panoramic views of the water and smaller islands. We didn’t spend much time at the Sun World park itself, just enjoyed the views from above.
The Duong Dong Night Market: We went here almost every night. It’s chaotic but a must for food lovers. We picked fresh seafood like grilled squid for about 200,000 VND and tried other local snacks like bánh xèo. Besides food, you can buy unique souvenirs like local fish sauce and pearls. It’s a great way to experience local life.
Rach Vem (Starfish Beach): This requires a 40-minute motorbike ride from Duong Dong on a bumpy road, but it’s worth the trip for the quiet, white sand beach. We saw tons of starfish in the shallow water (remember not to touch them!) and had a fresh seafood lunch at one of the rustic floating restaurants for around 200,000-300,000 VND per person.
Explore the National Park: For a change of scenery, we rented a motorbike and drove to Phu Quoc National Park. We did a short, easy 20-minute hike to Suoi Tranh Waterfall. The entrance fee was just 10,000 VND per person. It’s a great way to experience the jungle and get a break from the beaches.
A Spa Day: After all the exploring, we booked a 90-minute full-body massage at a local spa for about 400,000 VND per person. There are plenty of options, from budget-friendly to luxury, and it’s a perfect way to relax and recharge your body.
Hunt for Local Pepper: We visited Khu Tuong Pepper Farm to see how the island’s famous pepper is grown. It’s a bit of a drive, but the visit is free. We learned about the different types of pepper and bought a few bags for about 100,000-200,000 VND each—a unique and practical souvenir.
A Quiet Local Seafood Dinner: We found a small, local restaurant and had grilled grouper and a seafood hotpot. The meal for two cost about 400,000 VND. Sometimes the best and most authentic meals are found in these simple, no-frills places rather than the big, fancy ones.
Rent a Motorbike and Get Lost: We rented a scooter for 150,000 VND a day, which gave us the freedom to find our own hidden spots. We drove to the quiet northern parts of the island, like Ganh Dau Cape, and found some deserted beaches. It’s the best way to explore at your own pace, but always remember to wear a helmet.

1. Catch the Sunset at Long Beach

This is probably the most basic thing on the list, but for a good reason. Long Beach is huge. It’s easy to find a spot that’s not crowded.

We were staying right by the beach, so for us, this was a daily thing. Every evening, we’d grab a couple of beers from a small shop and just walk.

The sun setting over the water is really nice. The sky gets this mix of orange, pink, and purple.

Sometimes we’d just sit on the sand. One night, we went to The Haven Beach Club. It’s pretty well-known, but the vibe is chilled.

Music isn’t too loud. The drinks are more expensive than a local place, but the view is good. Just sitting there with a beer and the sound of the waves is a good way to relax.

This is definitely one of the easiest things to do in Phu Quoc for couples.

2. Island Hopping in the South

We did a full-day tour to the southern islands. I was a bit hesitant because these tours can be a bit of a tourist trap, but this one was actually decent.

We booked it through our hotel, but you can find tons of places in Duong Dong. The price was around 700,000 VND per person. That included pickup, lunch, and snorkeling gear. It’s a fair price.

The boat took us to three islands: Hon Mong Tay, Hon May Rut, and Hon Gam Ghi. Hon Mong Tay was the first stop. The beach is very nice, the water is clear. It’s good for photos, but it gets busy.

The best part was the snorkeling at Hon Gam Ghi. I wasn’t expecting much, but the coral was actually not bad. We saw a lot of different fish. It was crowded, but you could find your own spot.

3. The Hon Thom Cable Car

This was the biggest surprise. I don’t usually like these big, new attractions, but the Hon Thom cable car is different. It’s the longest one over the sea in the world, about a 20-minute ride. The views are amazing. You go over fishing boats, blue water, and other islands. It’s an incredible feeling.

The cable car goes to Hon Thom, which is where the Sun World Nature Park is. The park has a bunch of water slides and stuff.

We spent an hour or so there, but it wasn’t really our thing. We just liked the ride and the view from the top. The ticket is a bit expensive, but for the experience of the cable car ride, it’s worth it. It’s a great way to see the island from above. Location: The cable car station is in An Thoi, in the south of the island.
Cost: The ticket is about 400,000 VND per person for a round trip.
Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The schedule can change, so check online.

4. The Duong Dong Night Market

We went to the Duong Dong Night Market almost every night. It’s loud, busy, and a bit of a tourist spot, but the street food is excellent. It’s not for a quiet, romantic dinner. It’s for walking around and trying different snacks. The market opens around 6 PM and gets really busy after 8 PM.

We tried so much. The grilled scallops with green onion were so good. We also had a banh xeo, which is a crispy Vietnamese pancake.

The fresh seafood is the best part. You can pick your own crab or shrimp from the tanks and they’ll cook it right there. We got a big plate of grilled squid for about 200,000 VND. Best squid ever.

They also have stalls selling pearls and souvenirs. We bought some Phu Quoc fish sauce to take home. It’s a great way to see local life and a must-do among the things to do in Phu Quoc for couples who like food. 5. Rach Vem (Starfish Beach)

This one takes a bit of a trip. Rach Vem, or Starfish Beach, is in the north, about 40 minutes from Duong Dong by motorbike.

The road gets a bit rough at the end, but the beach is worth it. It’s known for starfish. There are tons of them in the shallow water. Don’t take them out of the water. Just look and take photos.

The beach itself is beautiful, with white sand and palm trees. It’s much quieter than Long Beach. There are a few small floating restaurants that serve fresh seafood.

We had grilled prawns and fried fish for lunch. It’s rustic, but the food is fresh and the view is great. This is a good choice for things to do in Phu Quoc for couples if you want some peace and quiet.

Location: Rach Vem Village, Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc. A motorbike or taxi is best.
Cost: Free. Lunch at a restaurant is around 200,000 – 300,000 VND per person.

6. Phu Quoc National Park

Phu Quoc isn’t just about beaches. A lot of the island is a national park. We rented a motorbike and drove to the entrance.

We didn’t do a long hike, just a short one to a small waterfall. It was a good break from the heat and the beach. The air is fresh and you hear all the jungle sounds.

The main trail we took was to Suoi Tranh Waterfall. It’s an easy path and only takes about 20 minutes to get there.

The waterfall isn’t huge during the dry season, but it’s still a nice spot to sit down. If you like hiking, this is a great addition to your list of things to do in Phu Quoc for couples.

After all the walking and driving, a spa day was a must. We found a small, local spa near our place. It wasn’t a fancy resort, just a simple place with good reviews.

We got a 90-minute full-body massage. The price was great, and the massage was excellent. The therapist was professional and the pressure was good.

There are many spas all over the island, from cheap ones to super high-end resort spas. We paid about 400,000 VND per person for the massage. It was a perfect way to relax and recharge, and a good activity for your list of things to do in Phu Quoc for couples.

8. Hunt for Authentic Phu Quoc Pepper

Phu Quoc is famous for its pepper. We decided to visit a pepper farm to see how it’s grown. We went to Khu Tuong Pepper Farm. It’s a bit of a drive, but it’s interesting. The farm is small, but the owner was very nice and explained how they grow and dry the pepper.

Phu Quoc pepper is known for its strong flavor. They sell black, white, and red pepper. We bought a few bags of black and red pepper to take home.

It’s a unique souvenir and you’re supporting local business. This is one of the more unique things to do in Phu Quoc for couples who want something different.

Cost: Free to visit. A bag of pepper costs around 100,000 – 200,000 VND.

9. A Quiet Local Seafood Dinner

One night, we skipped the night market and just looked for a local seafood restaurant. We found a place near our hotel. It was a small, open-air restaurant with plastic tables. The owner, a friendly old woman, showed us the fresh fish.

10. Rent a Motorbike and Get Lost

This is my main tip for anyone visiting Vietnam. Renting a motorbike gives you so much freedom. We rented a semi-automatic scooter for 150,000 VND a day. We used it to get to the national park, Starfish Beach, and just to drive around to see the villages.

We drove to the far north, near Ganh Dau Cape. The roads were quiet and the scenery was nice. We found a few quiet beaches with no one else there. It’s a great way to find your own little spot. Just be careful. The traffic in town can be a bit crazy, but outside of it, it’s fine.
