May I add that I’m on my 15th Asia trip. Never had food poisoning although many ask about it
What many travelers call ‘food poisoning’ in Vietnam is usually routine traveler’s diarrhea from unfamiliar bacteria rather than true food poisoning. Millions of visitors travel there safely every year — smart food and water habits go a long way. The biggest risks tend to be untreated water, raw produce washed in tap water, and ice in lower-end settings, not most hot freshly cooked foods.
We went to our doctor prior to arriving and brought meds with us, just in case. Glad we did because my husband did get sick and felt much better after a few days.
Get rehydration powder from the chemist once you have vomited it all up
I wouldn’t take anything,, plenty of dodgy street food if you want food poisoning
Activated charcoal tablets
Activated charcoal. It absorbs toxins and then they get removed in the bowel movement.
Take probiotics before, during and after travels for Good gut health
Don’t drink unfiltered water. Filtered or bottle water. Ensure Ice comes from a machine with filtered water. And watch how the street vendors wash their dishes and uncooked veges before you purchase. If in doubt always choose food cooked front of you. At street vendors I wipe the utensils with a lime or if none a bacterial wet wipe. I have a sensitive tummy and only had a rumble one morning and been travelling for over 3 weeks.
Sorry I didn’t read that correctly.
