This looks nicer than the one we had. I was more shocked when we had to get off the train and they just made the beds up again. We had watched videos prior of traveller’s saying the beds were fine. They were not, so uncomfortable 😂

Sooooo glad you posted this! The bathroom is shared with more cabins or in the berth?

The trains are clearly all different. No food delivered to our cabin on Hue to Hanoi. Our guide made us buy food before getting on the train and recommended against eating the train food. Could buy drinks but the beer wasn’t cold.

We did an overnight trip on lotus train Ninh Binh to Hue, and then overnight DaNang to HCMC on Viet rail private 2 berth cabin. Lotus train was def a better standard of cabin and food, but the Viet Rail train was fine. Spent the first 5 hours just gazing at scenery going by until it went dark. Def a way to travel (we are 59/60) if you don’t want to spend time hanging about in airports. We did our VN/Cambodia/Thailand trip with no internal flights and loved it! Can also recommend Chau Doc ferry along mekong into Cambodia.

Haha I took the day train from Ninh Binh to Hue & got a sleeper. I did ask the guy for the erm nicer cab, but got the cheap option. It was still fun & shared with two lovely Vietnamese ladies most of the way, but the cabs were definitely not like those in your pici. The scenery was lovely though. US 45 if anyone is curious.
